Start with a piece of furniture with an unappealing finish. Sand your piece of furniture for a smooth base. One method I employ is dry brushing with paint, a process of hardly any paint on your brush. Dip your brush into your paint and paint it off on to a piece of cardboard. Using that same brush lightly apply your paint going with the grain of the wood onto your project. You can always add more paint, so start with a light touch. When you’ve finished painting your piece of furniture use a fine piece of sandpaper and sand the edges and corners and points of any architectural elements. Next, with a clean cloth apply a layer of Annie Sloan’s clear wax to the whole piece. Let it dry for 30 minutes or less. Or for a more original antiqued look I mix the dark and the clear waxes together evenly…then buff that wax to a smooth glow…beautiful, protective and a fast process!
